Universal Music Group has promoted Scott Belmont to executive VP and chief information officer. He reports to Marinus N. Henny, UMG’s vice-chairman/CFO and will be based in New York.
In his new position, Belmont will oversee all aspects of the company’s worldwide information technology and will be responsible for strategic planning, initiatives, policies, standards and security in this area.
Belmont formerly served as senior VP of information technology at UMG and since 1998 has been responsible for all North American IT activities. He was responsible for a significant portion of the worldwide systems integration required by the merger of UMG and PolyGram.
Prior to joining UMG, he worked for Electronic Data Systems Corp for 15 years.
