What did you do for your 20th birthday? Or what are you going to do? Whatever the case, you probably won’t get Swedish House Mafia to reunite on a stage in front of close to 50,000 people. Don’t sweat it, that’s why we have Ultra Music Festival in Miami. It’s what they do.
It was a big year for the flagship festival, and not just because of the milestone. Three of its stages got a serious upgrade. The Main Stage, the Carl Cox Megastructure and the World Stage were looking fresh to death with all kinds of cool wrap-around screens and moving rigs and different geometric patterns than usual. The lineup was also stacked with stuff to please all interests: Gay electro-clash icons (Fischerspooner), secret guests (Above & Beyond) and the ultimate B2B2B2B from Jamie Jones, Eats Everything, Seth Troxler and Skream (J.E.S.u.S.). Not to mention the more than 50 other performers on the lineup.
If you couldn’t make it this year or just want to relive the experience, check out this recap video below. It’ll help prolong the magic until 2019, when Ultra Miami is finally old enough to drink. That should be a real doozy.
