Roger Daltrey of the Who, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, and U.K. singles chart regulars Westlife and Gabrielle will take part in the June 29 gala tribute to songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, Billboard Bulletin reports. The event benefits Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, a charitable foundation supported by the U.K. music business.
Ben E. King, Edwin Starr, and U.K. vets Chris Rea and Elkie Brooks are also on the bill for the Hammersmith Apollo show in west London, with other names to be added. Tickets go on sale Friday.
In related news, Robert Plant and Peter Gabriel will make guest appearances on the new album from Afro Celt Sound System, titled “Volume 3: Further In Time.” The set is to be released June 19 on Gabriel’s Real World Records. The band, known for melding Celtic and African influences, recorded the album in London after headlining Ireland’s millennium festival on Dec. 31, 2000.
Songs on the album include Plant’s “When You’re Falling,” Gabriel’s “Life Begin Again” and the Pina Kollars-fronted “Go On Through.” The group’s last album, “Volume 2: Release,” peaked at No. 6 on Billboard’s Top World Albums chart in October 1999.
