Jazz, classical and Celtic specialist label Linn Records has signed a worldwide deal with RSK Entertainment to distribute the label’s catalog via download services.
The Glasgow-based indie’s repertoire of 250 albums includes U.K. jazz artists Ian Shaw, Claire Martin and Barb Jungr. The digital encoding and distribution deal will get the artists on sites including eMusic, iTunes, Napster and HMV Digital.
Berkshire-based RSK Entertainment has frontline deals with leading digital media services, allowing the labels it represents to own the digital encodes as well as the copyright.
“We are delighted to extend our business with RSK, adding digital distribution to our existing physical contract,” says Caroline Dooley, business manager of Linn Records, adds in a statement. “We have also already been successfully selling high-resolution digital music on our own website for over a year and can see that there is a large market for downloads of classical and jazz music.”
All new releases by Linn Records will be available for download and catalog will be added throughout February.
RSK, formerly known as Koch U.K., was founded in 1990. It represents more than 50 independent labels in sales, marketing and distribution, including releases by Tom Petty, Whitesnake, Motörhead, the Black Keys, Nickelback and Ani Difranco. RSK launched its digital service last year.
