L.A. duo Two Friends is back with a new single “Overdose” — a collaboration with Canadian up-and-comers Exit Friendzone and featuring Natalola — that delivers Matt Halper and Eli Sones’ ‘Soul House’ aesthetic.
“We collaborated on it with our good friends Exit Friendzone, despite never having met them in person,” the mix masterminds tell Billboard.
They initially began writing the song with the help of Matt’s younger sister when she was just 15, and eventually finished writing it with Natalola back when the duo were college seniors.
Though “Overdose” is a high energy dance track on the surface, Natalola belting “I want you ’til I overdose, so kiss me ’til I’m poison” reveals the deeper meaning the song.
“While writing this track, we got inspired by something that pretty much everyone has experienced before, that feeling of being addicted to a person or to a relationship, for better or for worse,” Two Friends say. “Sometimes people can be the most powerful drug.”
