The vivacious new pop song was released today (Nov. 5) and fronts the act’s sixth EP of the same name. In “Yes or Yes,” the nine members of the popular K-pop girl group make things simple for the boy they’re interested in, saying they won’t take rejection from him but will only accept the titular options.
Like all TWICE songs, the group’s latest single is a sprightly electro-pop track. Opening up with a speak-song intro from Mina, where she lays out the nonet’s offering, the song flits between a bubbly, throwback synth-propelled melody and a vibrant chorus as it bursts with fizzy synths and brassy beats while hopping between dynamic tempo shifts. Everything leads to the soaring finale, which is introduced by a cheer and rhythmic bridge. The song utilizes sweet harmonizing throughout, adding a gentle, wistful tone to the dynamic.
“Yes or Yes” was released alongside a music video that sees the nine beguiling the object of their affection with fortune telling and energetic choreography. Beginning with a ride chauffeured by Jeongyeon, the women of TWICE captivate at the “TWICE Square” fairground while decked out in ’90s-inspired looks full of plaid, argyle, and leather. There’s even an Easter egg from TWICE’s very first music video: Tzuyu is seen wearing an outfit that mirrors what she wore in 2015’s “Like Ooh-Ahh” video.

According to TWICE’s label, JYP Entertainment, the music video for “Yes or Yes” is the fastest-ever by a K-pop girl group to reach 10 million views on YouTube, achieving the feat in just six hours and two minutes.
Yes or Yes follows the 2018 releases of TWICE’s first Japanese album BDZ, and their Korean albums What Is Love? And Summer Nights. Along with the single, the new EP contains six other tracks, including a Korean remake of their previously-released Japanese single “BDZ,” and the Kim Petras-penned “Young & Wild.” TWICE’s Jeongyeon, Chaeyoung, and Jihyo are each credited with writing lyrics for different tracks on the album.
Since their debut in 2015 with The Story Begins EP, which peaked at No. 15 on the World Albums chart dated Jan. 23, 2016, TWICE has seen eight albums land on the chart; they hit No. 1 with 2017’s Twicetagram, while this year’s What Is Love? and Summer Nights ranked at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.
