Just a few weeks after releasing the music video for “Heart Shaker,” K-pop girl group TWICE return with the cheery “Merry & Happy” video.
The second of two new tracks on their Merry & Happy album, an extended re-release of October’s twicetagram, “Merry & Happy” is a playful Christmas carol with a bubbly, swaying pop melody dominated by sleigh bells and layered backing vocals. The nonet highlighted it through a bright holiday party-inspired music video, first shared through Korean streaming platform Naver TV on Thursday (Dec. 21).
Dressed in colorfully cozy outfits, TWICE were filmed enjoying one another’s company as they prepare for and then play around at a holiday party. The members are seen decorating cakes, playing with games and toys, singing karaoke, decorating a Christmas tree, exchanging gifts, and just all around having a good time. There’s a bit of a retro vibe to the video, with a reappearance of the members filming a home video — like they did with the video for “Likey” in October” — and playing with old-school games, such as a Viewmaster.
The release of the “Merry & Happy” video was originally planned for Wednesday but was delayed until the following day out of deference to the mourning period surrounding the death of SHINee’s Jonghyun.
