Donald Trump announced that he’s a “very stable genius” on Saturday (Jan. 6), but his self-indulgent tweets aren’t convincing Moby. The DJ and producer, known for pushing the envelope in the dance music world, took a shot with a political joke aimed at the president.
“If #trump is a stable genius then I’m a hair model nba all-star,” Moby wrote on Instagram, where he posted a side-by-side image of Trump labeled “Stable Genius” and himself labeled “Hair Model.”
Trump was defending his mental ability after the release of Michael Wolff’s new book, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, that gives a less than favorable look at the president as he transitioned into his first year in office, a role of which Wolff reports Trump didn’t even want to win. In Wolff’s portrait of Trump, the president’s competence is questioned by his own associates in the White House.
“Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart,” Trump tweeted in the early morning hours Saturday. “Crooked Hillary Clinton also played these cards very hard and, as everyone knows, went down in flames. I went from VERY successful businessman, to top T.V. Star to President of the United States (on my first try). I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius….and a very stable genius at that!”
Wolff says he conducted roughly 200 interviews with Trump and his team and that he had fly-on-the-wall access in the West Wing.
Trump has told reporters that the book is fictitious and that he doesn’t know the author. On Twitter, he claimed, “I authorized Zero access to White House (actually turned him down many times) for author of phony book! I never spoke to him for book. Full of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don’t exist.”
Moby has spoken out against’s Trump’s ability to lead the country since his election. In an open letter published on Nov. 9, 2016, he wrote, “donald trump is a racist and a misogynist who has ruined countless businesses and will be the worst president our country has ever, ever seen,” and asked America, “what the fuck is wrong with you?”
