Newly-minted presidential candidate Donald Trump finally took the stage on Thursday night at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland to accept the GOP nomination and address his supporters in attendance.
Trump emphasized his plans to build a wall to block out illegal immigrants and vowed to protect the LGBTQ citizens from a “hateful foreign ideology.” He also took aim at Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton, saying her legacy embodied “death, destruction, terrorism and weakness.”
Attendees on the floor of the convention lauded the speech, though others felt that it ran too long, clocking in at over an hour.
On Twitter, Clinton, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Alan Cumming and Rosie O’Donnell were among those commenting on Trump’s declaration to bring peace to the country as president.
