Troye Sivan has returned with his new single and video for “My My My!,” the first offering from his upcoming album, due out in the spring on Capitol Records. Take a look and listen, below.
In a statement, Sivan says that “’My My My!’ is a song of liberation, freedom, and love. Throw all inhibition to the wind, be present in your body, love wholeheartedly, move the way you’ve always wanted to, and dance the way you feel – hopefully even to this song!”
The strutty-and-sexy uptempo track was produced by Oscar Görres (who has produced songs by Taylor Swift, Maroon 5 and Britney Spears, among others) and written by Görres, Sivan, Brett “Leland” McLaughlin and James Alan.
The steamy music video was directed by Grant Singer, and features Sivan stomping and gyrating his way through empty city streets and grimy interiors. (Within the sparsely populated interiors are a few shirtless gentlemen with smoldering stares, including artist/porn star/model Brody Blomqvist.) Singer has helmed many videos for The Weeknd (including “Starboy” and “Can’t Feel My Face”), Lorde’s “Green Light,” and Taylor Swift and Zayn’s “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.”
Sivan’s upcoming album is the follow-up to his full-length debut set, Blue Neighbourhood, which reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in 2015 and No. 6 on the ARIA Albums Chart in his native Australia. It was preceded by a pair of top 10-charting EPs: TRXYE (No. 5) and Wild (No. 5). The Blue Neighbourhood album launched the Billboard Hot 100 top 40-charting hit “Youth,” which reached No. 23. The tune also climbed to No. 1 on the Dance Club Songs chart.
According to Nielsen Music, Sivan’s albums have earned 953,000 equivalent album units in the U.S., and his catalog of songs have generated 714 million on-demand audio and video streams.
