Virgin Records America chairman and CEO Jason Flom confirmed yesterday (Dec. 5) the appointment of Lee Trink as the label’s executive VP and GM, effective immediately. The move was previously tipped by Billboard.biz.
Trink will oversee all of the label’s marketing, promotion, publicity, sales, new media and international functions. He is based in New York and reports to Flom.
In his role, Trink takes over some of the duties held previously by Virgin Records COO/GM Larry Mestel, who departed Nov. 22. Flom replaced Matt Serletic, who left Virgin Oct. 18.
Trink joins from Warner Music imprint Lava Records, where he was GM and SVP. He has worked with Flom since 1997 when the two were at Atlantic and Lava Records.
“Lee is one of the most creative, effective and well-liked guys in the business and I’m very happy he’s on the Virgin team,” said Flom in a statement. “He’s tough. He’s worked in the Brooklyn D.A.’s office and completed Israeli Army basic training. What better preparation for the music business?”
