Three days after Atlanta rapper Trinidad James published a statement (that has since been deleted) on Twitter suggesting he had been dropped by his label Def Jam, the rapper released a surprise track entitled “Doin’ Me” (produced by Raak) on SoundClound.
Quickly peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard Twitter Trending 140 chart, James is bold and forthcoming in his lyrics, which clearly relate to his current situation with Def Jam, where he signed a multi-million dollar contract back in December 2012.
James was signed after the release of his breakthrough mixtape Don’t Be S.A.F.E., featuring the single “All Gold Everything,” which peaked at No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 2013.
