Tricky has added some North American tour dates to his world tour. Currently overseas in support of his debut Hollywood album, “Blowback,” Tricky hits these shores on July 18 with a date in Toronto, and then swings down through Boston (July 20) and New York (July 25) before wrapping up in the West Coast on Aug. 11 in San Diego.
As previously reported, Tricky will play a handful of festivals during the tour, including Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival (July 27) and KNDD Seattle’s Endfest, Aug. 4 in Bremerton, Wash.
Tricky’s first single from “Blowback,” “Evolution Revolution Love,” featuring Live’s Ed Kowalczyk, along with up-and-coming reggae artist Hawkman, is at No. 38 in its second week on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart. “Blowback,” which also features guest shots from Alanis Morissette, Cyndi Lauper, and Red Hot Chili Peppers members Anthony Kiedis, Flea, and John Frusciante, is expected to debut on this week’s forthcoming Billboard 200 albums chart.
Icelandic singer Emiliana Torrini has been tapped as the opening act on the U.S. dates. Torrini, who recently toured with Dido and Travis, released her Virgin debut, “Love in the Time of Science,” last November.
