Travis Scott and Maggie Rogers have added their voices — and their dollars — to the effort of abortion rights and reproductive healthcare organizations in the wake of Alabama’s recent restrictive and dangerous abortion ban.
In the midst of his set at Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Ala. on Saturday night (May 18), Scott pledged to donate the proceeds from that day’s merchandise sales to Planned Parenthood.
After his announcement was met with cheers from the crowd, he addressed his local fans: “I love y’all and I just want everyone to know that love is the strongest thing we can have.”

The 1975’s Matty Healy, who also performed at Hangout Fest this weekend, spoke out against the abortion ban as well during his own set on Friday (May 17). “The reason I’m so angry is because I don’t believe [the ban] is about the preservation of life,” he said in the middle of his passionate speech. “I believe it’s about the controlling of women.”
Rogers is about to set off on a run of dates in Australia and New Zealand, but her heart and mind are focused on Alabama, too: she raised a whopping $17,500 in her own online merch sale to benefit the Yellowhammer Fund, which aids those in need of services at one of the state’s three abortion clinics.
She filmed a brief thank you message for her fan community in which she shared how proud she was of their efforts for the fundraiser: “It is so special to see [this community] create real change in the world.”
