Five years after “Ode to J. Smith,” Travis will return with a new album. The Britpop band, known for hits such as “Why Does It Always Rain On Me” and “Sing,” will release “Where You Stand” on Aug. 19. The title track, also the album’s first single, will land April 30.
The band also intends to launch an international tour, according to a handwritten note frontman Fran Healy posted on the group’s website on Thursday.
The group previously teased new material with the video for the song “Another Guy,” a lean rock effort more reminiscent of indie acts such as Spoon than the group’s past anthems. The new album will be released by Kobalt Label Services. Since Travis’ last full-length, Healy made his solo debut with 2010’s “Wreckorder.”
