Travis McCoy, “The Lazarus Project” (Fueled By Ramen)
Release Date: Spring 2010
Travis McCoy’s debut solo album, “The Lazarus Project,” not only has the New York rapper playing with melodies and warming up his singing voice, but also features collaborations with Cee-Lo, on the song “Dr. Feel Good,” and his friends in the band Chester French. Since this is the artist’s first effort away from his group, Gym Class Heroes, McCoy wanted his fans to see “another side of Travis.” Aside from showcasing his surprising vocal range, McCoy says the album also gives him a chance to prove himself to a community that may not always take him seriously. And while some of the songs are produced by T-Pain, don’t expect any Auto-Tune. Other producers include up-and-coming Timbaland protégé Hannon, Detail and the Smeezingtons.
