Pop/rock act Train will return Jan. 31 with “For Me, It’s You,” its first new studio album in two-and-a-half years. The 13-track Columbia release was produced by longtime collaborator Brendan O’Brien and is led by the single “Cab,” which is No. 23 in its fifth week on Billboard’s Adult Top 40 chart.
“For Me, It’s You” features a cover of Sugar’s “If I Can’t Change Your Mind” as well as the studio debuts of former Black Crowes bassist Johnny Colt and keyboardist Brandon Bush, who have been a member of the Train live band since the tour in support of 2003’s “My Private Nation.”
That set debuted at No. 6 on The Billboard 200 and has sold more than 1 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It spawned the single “Calling All Angels,” which reached No. 1 on both Billboard’s Adult Contemporary and Adult Top 40 charts. A live album, “Alive at Last,” arrived in 2004.
Although the lone show on Train’s schedule is a New Year’s Eve gig at Chicago’s House of Blues, a number of appearances are lined up in support of “For Me, It’s You.” The group will be seen Jan. 30 on NBC’s “The Today Show,” Feb. 3 on CBS’ “The Late Show With David Letterman” and the following day on the CBS “Saturday Early Show.”
