Throwing it all the way back to 2003 — and bringing in some ’90s classics — Kelly commemorated VMA reunions with TLC‘s “Waterfalls,” and NSYNC’s “It’s Gonna Be Me,” also throwing in Beyonce’s “Crazy In Love,” Aaliyah‘s “Try Again,” and Justin Timberlake‘s “LoveStoned/I Think She Knows.” Using just her voice and acoustic guitar, she managed to seamlessly combine them all into one three-minute tune.
Kelly was announced as a VMA performer Tuesday (Aug. 25), along with Demi Lovato, The Weeknd, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pharrell, Twenty One Pilots with A$AP Rocky, and Justin Bieber, who will perform his single “What Do You Mean” just two days after its highly anticipated Aug. 28 release.
