Justin Timberlake, Ja Rule, and Ashanti are among those who will help WHTZ (Z100) New York continue a tradition as the station stages its annual Jingle Ball concert Dec. 12 at the city’s Madison Square Garden. Other artists in the event’s initial lineup are Destiny’s Child, Nelly, Avril Lavigne, John Mayer, Kylie Minogue, and “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson. More artists will be added to the list as the show approaches.
Tickets priced from $60 to $250 will be sold to members of Z100’s Z VIP program beginning Friday (Nov. 1) at 4 p.m. ET via Ticketmaster. To register as a Z VIP member, visit the Clear Channel Communications-owned station’s official Web site.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Musicians On Call, an organization that uses music to promote and compliment the healing process in health care facilities. As the concert approaches, Z100 on-air personalities will accompany some of the show’s participating artists during visits to New York-area hospitals.
In the hours prior to the Dec. 12 Jingle Ball concert, Z100 and Teen People magazine will stage Style Jam at New York’s Manhattan Center, a block away from the Garden. The event will run from noon until 6 p.m. and will feature music and interactive fashion and beauty displays.
For Ja Rule and Ashanti, the Jingle Ball won’t be the only New York-area festival concert in which they’ll take part. On Nov. 14, they’ll join Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Erick Sermon, Sean Paul, Faith Evans, and Doug E. Fresh for Powerhouse, a concert sponsored by Clear Channel’s WWPR-FM (Power 105.1).
Tickets to that event, to be held at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, N.J., are priced from $32 to $75, and are on sale now, also via Ticketmaster. The station will also be giving tickets away to listeners as the show approaches. For more information, visit the station’s Web site.
