Not every performer was fretting over their place in the music world during Tuesday night’s edition of The Voice.
Tones And I was the musical guest for NBC’s talent show’s Top 8 Eliminations episode, where she belted out her global hit “Dance Monkey.”
Starting at a grand piano, Tones (real name Toni Watson) showcased her incredible pipes in the three-and-a-half minute long performance. No props, just lights, smoke and action.
“Dance Monkey” is on a remarkable streak atop charts around the globe. It’s hit No. 1 in 20 territories, including an all-time-best 19 week unbroken reign in Australia. The song is also on track for an 11th week at No. 1 in the U.K. It’s currently No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, down two places from its peak position.
The Aussie singer and songwriter scooped four honors at the ARIA Awards in Sydney last month, where she opened the show with a performance of “Dance Monkey.” In the days leading up, she performed the song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, earning a standing ovation.
