Tones And I took the express elevator last year with “Dance Monkey,” and her thrilling ride doesn’t appear to be slowing.
On Saturday (April 25), the Aussie singer and songwriter was among the 50-plus artists from Down Under who performed for the one-off Music From The Home Front, a virtual concert coinciding with Anzac Day.
Tones didn’t hit her signature tune. She went with a solo cover of Alphaville’s ‘80s classic, “Forever Young,” a number which allowed her to showcase her exceptional range.
The former busker (real name Toni Watson) has smashed a bunch of records around the globe with “Dance Monkey,” which is the longest-running No. 1 in Australia (at 24 weeks) and longest-running No. 1 in the U.K. by a female artist (11 weeks).
The track now also ranks in the top 10 most-streamed songs on Spotify. And with that feat, “Dance Monkey” is the most-streamed tune by a woman on the streaming service.
