Tones And I isn’t taking her foot off the gas just yet.
The Aussie singer and songwriter and former busker shares the music video for “Can’t Be Happy All The Time,” a year to the day since the release of “Dance Monkey,” her life-changing hit.
The record-busting “Dance Monkey” has passed seven billion streams worldwide and is now the most-streamed song on Spotify by a female artist. The single also smashed chart records on both sides of the globe, including an unprecedented 24-week reign over the Australian survey.
The new video, produced by Ghostie Studios and Tathata Productions and directed by Grey Ghost (Jeremy Koren), captures the wild ride Tones (real name Toni Watson) has sped through over the 12 months, including her performances on U.S. TV, mainstage festival slots and her showcase at the towering MCG during the AFL Grand Final.
The ballad dropped earlier this year as a double a-side with “Bad Child,” and represents “the struggles of rising to fame so quickly and dealing with a dramatic change in lifestyle — the good and bad the comes with it,” Tones explains.
