Following a successful debut last fall, TomorrowWorld enters its sophomore year beginning this Friday (Sept. 26). Last year’s inaugural edition brought more than 120,000 visitors from 75 different countries to Georgia’s Chattahoochee Hills, and this year’s deep and diverse lineup bodes well for another big year. Before heading down south to survey the scene, Billboard makes artist picks for each day of the summer-closing festival.
Check out the picks below, and stay tuned to Billboard.com for updates from the festival all weekend long.
Friday, September 26
Kygo, Main Stage, 6:15 – 7:15 pm
Avicii’s replacement has never played a stage this large before, but that shouldn’t stop the rising Norwegian talent from entrancing those in attendance with his trailblazing tropical house sound. Expect plenty of laidback melodies and full-throated audience sing-a-longs to the slew of anthemic remixes that elevated him to prominence.
Oliver, Mythical Frames, 4:00 – 5:30 pm
Fresh off the release of their excellent Light Years Away EP on Fool’s Gold, this talented L.A. duo is firing on all cylinders right now. Their set should traverse the intersection of funk and electro house and emerge as one of the day’s highest energy offerings.
Jody Wisternoff, Anjunadeep, 9:00 – 11:00 pm
Best known for being one half of pioneering progressive duo Way Out West, this British veteran has continued releasing quality tunes and curating talent as A&R of the esteemed Anjunadeep imprint. Looking for some proper progressive house? Jody has you covered in a rare American festival appearance.
Saturday, July 27
Skrillex, Main Stage, 11:30 pm – 1:00 am
Between his high-profile Dog Blood and Jack U collaborations, it’s been a bit since Sonny headlined an American dance festival solo. It won’t take long for attendees to recall why he’s regarded as one of the best in the business.
Bob Moses, All Gone Pete Tong Stage, 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm
The musical brainchild of a singer/songwriter and a dance producer, Bob Moses has been captivating audiences with their blend of minimal house beats and live vocals and instrumentation. Don’t miss the opportunity to catch one of the underground’s most unique rising talents on a festival stage.
Yogi, OWSLA Stage, 4:45 pm – 5:45 pm
Being signed to both Skrillex’s OWSLA and Dr. Dre’s Aftermath may sound like a pipe dream for many, but it’s just daily life for Yogi. The talented British act is situated precisely at the junction of hip-hop and dance music, and fans of booming 808 beats and dynamic trap music need look no further.
Sunday, July 28
Kaskade, Main Stage, 10:30 pm – 12:00 am
If there’s one sure thing in dance music, it’s a Kaskade festival set. Even the most hardened of underground hearts has been known to melt when exposed to the San Francisco veteran’s potent main stage mashups. Layering his past catalog’s ethereal vocals over primetime festival fare, Kaskade will provide a fitting finale to TomorrowWorld.
Pegboard Nerds, All Your Bass Are Belong to Us Stage, 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm
The reports of dubstep’s death were greatly exaggerated. This Scandinavian duo has helped keep the torch burning with a consistent stream of dynamic bass-heavy productions, while still finding time to explore new sonic territory on recent releases like “BADBOI.” Their Sunday evening set should be a bone-rattling affair.
Gaiser, Minus Stage, 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Richie Hawtin’s Minus showcase harbors a wealth of talent this year, but this minimal techno mastermind sports a particularly impressive live show filled with marching bass lines and compelling percussive interplay.
