K-pop rookie boy band TOMORROW X TOGETHER kicked off their first U.S. showcase tour in New York City last month, and sat down with Billboard to discuss a variety of topics including their music, artists they like being from the same company as BTS.
The five members of the act, which is also known as TXT, spoke a bit about the music from their first EP The Star Chapter: Dream, which debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 140 upon its release in March, and why they opted to release one song in English.
“While performing our first U.S showcase, we wanted to perform a song in English as a gift to our fans all over the world to enjoy,” Beomgyu says. “Together, we thought ‘Cat & Dog’ would be a good song to show another special side to us.”
TXT also spoke about how it feels to be the first new group put out by Big Hit Entertainment since BTS in 2013. “It’s a great honor to be mentioned with them,” Soobin says. “We learned so much from them so we will continue to do our best as a group.” The rest of TXT shared some of the tips BTS’ members gave them, such as emphasizing teamwork, practicing, and passion.
As they move towards the future, TXT hope “to be remembered as a group full of bright energy,” says Taehyun. “I want people to think that all five of us shine in our own ways and even brighter together,” Yeonjun added.
