Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are receiving an outpouring of support from fellow celebrities following their testing positive for coronavirus on Wednesday (March 11).
“Love and get well soon and come home soon to you and @RitaWilson,” wrote Julia Louis-Dreyfus in a reply to Hanks’ tweet, while Jameela Jamil praised the actor for his calm, rational response to the diagnosis. “A calm and sensibly informative note from the man I wish was president,” she wrote. “Hope they feel better soon, and glad they are in good, sanitized hands.”
Katharine McPhee had a more blunt take on the situation, tweeting simply, “2020 really REALLY sucks” alongside an article confirming the news.
The two-time Academy Award winner and his wife are currently in Australia, where he’s been filming the upcoming Baz Luhrmann-helmed Elvis Presley biopic starring Austin Butler. (The film has since halted production in the wake of Hanks’ diagnosis.)
