If you’re a dreamer, you’re a fighter, and the longer you hold fast to your goals, the stronger your heart becomes. Victory tastes sweetest when it’s earned through steadfast determination, but it’s the journey itself that brings the magic.
LA-based producer Tokimonsta has been through more than most. She was nominated for a Grammy after beating a rare brain disease, and her next album, Oasis Nocturno, is shaping up to be an even bolder experience. Today, she honors the fighter in all of us with Def Jam signee Bibi and Chicago-based creative Jean Deaux on an uplifting tune called “One Day” with a video that’s out of this world.
“Buried deep inside us is the will to overcome the most difficult hardships,” Tokimonsta is quoted in a press release. “As women, Bibi, Jean Deaux, and I know how strong you have to be to push forward when no one believes in you. ‘One Day’ is dedicated to every person of every creed feeling life’s hardships, but not losing themselves to it. Our drive and our determination will guide us to the faint light at the end of the tunnel.”
The clip was filmed at the Tenri judo dojo in LA and shows each of the artists as sensais, imparting wisdom and encouragement on a band of young warriors who show their skills in some beautifully-choreographed moves. The colorful cosmos swirl just outside all the windows, matching the star-gazing feel of the synth melodies, which themselves are backed by a strong drum machine beat.
“One Day” is the third single from Oasis Nocturno, due out March 20. It follows “Fried for the Night” feat. Earthgang. Watch the alluring video for “One Day” and check Tokimonsta’s upcoming tour dates below.
