Toby Keith will embark on his first-ever tour of Australia in 2014, the American country star has revealed.
Keith’s four-date “Hammer Down Under Tour to Australia” will kick off March 14 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. As previously reported, Keith will headline the three-day CMC Rocks the Hunter Festival on March 16, before playing newly-announced shows March 18 at Sydney’s Allphones Arena and March 19 at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena. U.S. act Eli Young Band and Kellie Pickler will support on the tour dates, tickets for which go on sale Oct. 4.
Australian audiences “love his larrikin outlaw attitude and the fact that he doesn’t take himself too seriously,” explains promoter Rob Potts, CEO of Entertainment Edge, which is organizing the dates with Chugg Entertainment and Foxtel’s Country Music Channel (CMC).
Chugg Entertainment chairman Michael Chugg explains, “Aussie audiences have really connected” with Keith’s “irreverent humor.”
Country music has a big following Down Under, and the tandem of Chugg and Potts have joined forces on the biggest-name country music treks of Australia over recent years. Brooks & Dunn and Tim McGraw have toured, while Alan Jackson is in the country for the CMC Rocks North Queensland event.
Keith’s “Drinks After Work” will be released in Australia on Nov. 1.
