Tina Knowles recently shared her secrets of motherhood to Maria Shriver, one of which included sending her famous children Beyonce and Solange to counseling as kids.
In a clip posted by TMZ, Knowles remembers her own childhood and how she felt that her mother liked her brother better, a feeling she hoped wouldn’t pass down to her own children: “On Wednesdays, I took off of work and that was Solange’s day.”
Knowles continued to say that she put five-year-old Solange in counseling with her 10-year-old sister Beyonce, who was just at the brink of superstardom in their town at the time. “I took them to counseling very early so that the counselor could help Beyonce be more sensitive to Solange.”
While the rest of the family thought she was going to make her daughters “crazy” from putting them in therapy so young, Knowles thinks the opposite. “It made [Beyonce] more sensitive and protective, and they’re still fiercely protective of each other.” See the clip below.
