Justin Timberlake has signed on to star in the Nick Cassavetes-directed film “Alpha Dog,” which will also feature Emile Hirsch and Sharon Stone. It marks the first film project Timberlake has attached himself to after his acting debut in the upcoming drama “Edison,” alongside Kevin Spacey, Morgan Freeman, LL Cool J and Piper Perabo.
New Line Cinema is on board to distribute the feature, which is inspired by the real-life story of Jesse James Hollywood, a drug dealer (Hirsch) who became one of the youngest men ever on the FBI’s most wanted list.
Timberlake will play the best friend of Hirsch’s character, while Stone will play the mother of one of the leads. Other casting is expected to be announced shortly.
“Alpha Dog” has an Oct. 25 start date. It’s Cassavetes’ first film since New Line’s summer hit, “The Notebook.”
