U.K.-based TicketWeb, a subsidiary of ticketing giant Ticketmaster, has been selected to power the online ticket service for Matter, the new 2,600-capacity purpose-built nightclub that opened yesterday (Sept. 18) and is located inside London’s O2 music venue.
TicketWeb is an online portal that enables venue operators to administer and manage their own online ticketing operations. Matter is operated by Fabric, a London-based nightclub operator/indie label.
Although Fabric has used TicketWeb before, it has been at short-term leased venues. Matter will represent the first time Fabric is using TicketWeb’s technologies at a dedicated venue.
The “multi-year” deal with TicketWeb will enable Fabric to offer branded online-ticketing service to customers attending events at Matter via matterlondon.com.
In addition, there is a 24-hour booking and information hotline, and the means to customize the ticketing service, depending on the audience profile and events’ content.
With TicketWeb’s venue access and ticket authentication systems, Matter and Fabric are able to scan each ticket’s unique barcode, validate the tickets in real time, grant entry, and identify illegal tickets to deny access.
“We were confident that TicketWeb offered the right (systems) with which to market events across the increasingly blurred genre lines of clubs, dance and live music,” said Dan Coshan, group operations director at Fabric and matter.
