Live events ticketing giant Ticketmaster continues its European expansion with the acquisition of Turkey-based Biletix.
Founded in 2000 by Turkish conglomerates Koc Group and TAG Enterprises, Biletix is going to be the local operating arm of Ticketmaster, which is entering the Turkish market for the first time.
Currently, Biletix services more than 400 venue, promoter and sports clients that are involved in more than 6,000 events every year. Ticketmaster itself will be bringing its global technology and marketing resources to the new Turkish operations.
The company will retain Biletix’ founding general managers Dave Dorner and Ali Abhary in the same position and they will be Ticketmaster’s representatives in the country.
The deal extends Ticketmaster’s reach outside the United States to 19 markets.
