The Thumbplay Music cloud-based on-demand mobile streaming service is now available for Android phones, says the company. Launched this January for BlackBerry devices only, this marks the first new mobile platform for the young service, which charges $10 a month. As for the iPhone, it’s still “coming soon,” according to the company, but no specific dates mentioned.
The company is still not disclosing total download figures, but a spokeswoman says some days the app gets in excess of 10,000 downloads. Also, she says the top 20 tracks streamed at any given time only make up 8% of the total streams, suggesting a healthy “long tail” usage at this early stage.
