Veteran live entertainment exec Thomas Miserendino has been named President & CEO, AEG Europe, it was announced today (Oct. 7) by Jay Marciano, Chief Operating Officer, AEG.
Effective immediately, Miserendino moves from his current post as executive vice president and COO, AEG Live — a role that he has held since joining the company in 2002. He will be based in London and reports to Marciano, who took up the post of AEG COO in March this year. Miserendino’s new responsibilities will include overseeing AEG business interests throughout nine European markets, including 20 music and entertainment venues, as well as stand-alone divisions including AEG Europe Ticketing (AXS), AEG Global Partnerships-Europe, AEG Live Europe, AEG Europe Development and AEG Facilities, Europe.
European AEG-owned or operated venues include O2 World Berlin, O2 World Hamburg, Stockholm’s Ericsson Globe, Istanbul’s Ulker Arena and several London sites, most notably the Eventim Apollo theater (formerly Hammersmith Apollo), Wembley Arena and its flagship UK venue, the 20,000-capacity O2 arena, which has been the top-grossing arena in the world for the past four years, according to Billboard Boxscore.
“At a time when AEG’s global expansion and revenue generation continue to exceed projections, the growth of AEG Europe is a critical component of our business strategy,” said Marciano in a statement.
“Tom’s incredible knowledge of both the facilities and live music and entertainment industries combined with his experience and tremendous success these past eleven years as COO of AEG Live makes him the ideal individual to guide AEG Europe for years to come,” Marciano went on to say.
“I am extremely proud of the role I have played and the contributions I have made in helping to develop AEG Live over the last eleven years,” commented Miserendino in a statement confirming his appointment. “I am looking forward to the new challenge of continuing to build on the formidable base created by Jay and his well respected team in Europe.”
Prior to joining AEG in 2002, Miserendino was the COO of strategic communications and entertainment company TBA Entertainment. From 1981 through 1998, he served as the president and COO of Eric Chandler, Ltd., the holding company for varied interests in entertainment, including concert promotion, Olympic and music merchandising, radio ownership, entertainment facility management, and sports action film production.
