2003 – Rock musician Noel Redding, best known for his stint as the bassist of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, is found dead at his home in Ireland of unknown causes. He is 57.
1999 – Shedaisy returns to their hometown, Salt Lake City, to sing at a charity dinner benefiting the Karl Malone Foundation for children’s charities. The performance is the first in their hometown for sisters Kristyn, Kelsi and Kassidy Osborn since the release of their debut album, “THE WHOLE Shebang.”
1997 – Country singer Trace Adkins marries former record company publicist Rhonda Forlaw in a traditional Southern ceremony in the garden of Nashville’s historic Belle Meade Mansion.
1995 – Jimmie Vaughan, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Buddy Guy and Robert Cray reunite for a tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan in Austin, Texas, the late blues guitarist’s hometown. All five played with the guitarist at his last concert Aug. 26, 1990, before his death in a helicopter crash.

1981 – Reggae star Bob Marley dies of cancer in a Miami hospital at the age of 36. “Rastaman Vibration” is the highest-charting album by Bob Marley & the Wailers, reaching Billboard’s top 10 in 1976.

1941 – Eric Burdon of The Animals is born in Tyneside, England. The group’s first single to make Billboard’s Hot 100 is “The House of the Rising Sun,” which stays at No. 1 for three weeks in 1964.
