After amassing an impressive catalog over the past two-plus decades — with three top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including the No. 4-peaking “Semi-Charmed Life” in 1997 — Third Eye Blind are back, but now they’re plucking from other artists’ catalogs. On the just-released Thanks for Everything EP, the band offers up seven covers of songs they love and are inspired by.
“The idea with this EP was to amplify some of that music and art, and in doing so, catch inspiration for our next album,” lead singer Stephan Jenkins said in a press release, also noting that all proceeds from the EP will benefit the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh.
Covering Bon Iver’s “Blood Bank,” Santigold’s “This Isn’t Your Parade,” Babyshambles’ “Fuck Forever” and many more, Thanks for Everything is both an ode to the music genres and artists who have influenced the band over the years and a fun experiment for the band’s search for fresh inspiration.
