Hard Rock International will launch its 35th anniversary celebration with the festival Hyde Park Calling, to be held July 1-2 in the London venue. Former Pink Floyd principal Roger Waters and Texas are the first acts set for night one, while the Who and Razorlight are early confirmations for the closing evening.
Waters will perform Pink Floyd’s 1973 classic “Dark Side of the Moon” in its entirety at the show, expected to be his only such British appearance of the year. About a dozen acts are tipped to play each night.
The event will be followed by Hard Rock’s Ambassadors of Rock Tour, which will bring as-yet-unannounced acts to Singapore, Tokyo, Osaka, Japan, New York, Chicago, Hollywood, Fla., Orlando, Fla., and Caracas.
One lucky fan will win a trip to every show on the tour; the contest can be entered via HardRock.com. A portion of the proceeds from the Ambassadors of Rock shows will be donated to local charities. A June 30 launch party in London will benefit the Nordoff-Robbins Foundation.
