Cheers to The Weeknd — in his first official major liquor brand partnership to date, he’s teamed up with Grey Goose to bring two exclusive cocktails to his Legend of the Fall 2017 world tour. The “Starboy” and “Sidewalk” both feature Grey Goose VX, a new expression made with a hint of cognac honoring the history of the brand, which stemmed from a Cognac house in 1997 as the brainchild of Maître de Chai (cellar master) François Thibault. Cognac is an aged French white grape brandy that follows strict regulations and can only be produced in the Cognac region.
Grey Goose makes a lot of sense for The Weeknd; it’s a premium brand with some serious clout behind it given its status as the world’s first super luxury vodka. “Grey Goose has always been such an iconic brand to me,” the singer says. “I’m excited to partner with them.” It’s also a brand that embraces innovation and pushing the envelope (again given its roots — it was definitely not the norm to make vodka in France, let alone in a region that’s known for one distinct spirit), and VX itself is an embodiment of this.
Naturally, Billboard Style has the recipes for “Starboy” and “Sidewalk,” and they’re actually pretty easy to make at home (no shaker or bar tools required). You might need to make a grocery store run, however, as the garnish is star anise (obviously).
1 1/2 ounces Grey Goose VX
1 spritz of honey water (1 part honey to 1 part water)
Build over ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with one star anise.

3 ounces of premium ginger ale
1/2 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice

Some home bartending tips:
-Always use quality ice whenever possible. Good ice is an integral component in a great drink as using cloudy or low-quality ice can negatively affect the flavor profile of your drink or spirit.
-When a cocktail recipe calls for juice, always go the fresh route.
-Sweetening syrups (like the honey water used in the “Starboy” recipe or like simple syrup, which is used in tons of cocktails and is just 1:1 sugar:water) can be prepped in advance and usually keep for a while. When mixing these, use hot water so that both components mix evenly and easily.
