It was a double-elimination night Tuesday on NBC’s The Voice, with the bottom three artists singing for the instant save. Ten artists became eight, and coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson all hoped their artists would make it through.
After a performance from Portugal. The Man, host Carson Daly announced the first of the results. America saved Team Miley’s Brooke Simpson and Team Adam’s Addison Agen. Viewers also voted to save Team Blake’s Keisha Renee and Team Jennifer’s Noah Mac.
Following a video package about season 12 champion Chris Blue’s life since winning, more results came in. America saved Team Blake’s Chloe Kohanski and Team Adam’s Adam Cunningham, who had to sing for the instant save for the past two weeks. This time, he sailed through to the next round.
Season 4 champion Danielle Bradbery performed her new single “Worth It,” and then Team Blake got some more good news: Red Marlow was voted through to the top 8.
That left Team Miley’s Ashland Craft, Team JHud’s Davon Fleming and Team JHud’s Shi’Ann Jones to sing for the instant save. Fleming’s spot in the bottom three was particularly surprising. It wasn’t a great results night for Hudson.
Craft got things started with a performance of “Tonight I Wanna Cry” by Keith Urban. It was a fun country performance. Craft knows exactly what kind of artist she wants to be, and the nerves didn’t seem to be getting to her during this live performance. As a country artist, she stands out on Team Miley.
Jones performed “At Last” by Etta James, and it was a great song choice for the high-stakes situation. Jones is a very young singer, but she has proven that she belongs in the competition with more seasoned artists, and each performance she has given has gotten better and better.
Fleming sang “Ain’t No Way” by Aretha Franklin, which was another great song choice. Fleming is one of the most impressive vocalists in the competition, and he put his instrument on full display on Tuesday night, reminding viewers of what he’s capable of.
After the nationwide vote, viewers saved Fleming. Jones and Craft went home. The top 8 will perform live for your vote next week.
