Two artists were eliminated from season of 15 of NBC’s The Voice on Tuesday night, with coaches Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton awaiting the results alongside their singers. The bottom three vote-getters from Monday night’s performances sang for the Instant Save, which could only advance one artist.
America also voted to save Team Jennifer’s MaKenzie Thomas and Team Kelly’s Chevel Shepherd. Clarkson then took the stage to perform her new single “Heat.” The next artists to advance to the Top 8 were Team Kelly’s Sarah Grace and Team Blake’s Chris Kroeze.
Former Voice coach Gwen Stefani sang “Feliz Navidad” alongside Chilean singer Mon Laferte. Then, Team Kelly’s Kymberli Joye made it through to the Top 8.
That left Team Adam’s Reagan Strange and DeAndre Nico as well as Team Blake’s Dave Fenley to sing for the Instant Save. As it turned out, Strange was too sick to sing, but she was still eligible for voting.
Fenley, meanwhile, sang “Amazed” by Lonestar. His nerves affected his pitch, but it was still an entertaining performance of the country ballad.
Nico also sang a ballad, going with the emotional number “All of Me” by John Legend. He sang it beautifully and delivered a solid lyrical interpretation, rising to the challenge of the situation.
Levine, however, stumped more for Strange. The pity vote worked, and even though the young artist did not sing for it, she surprised by securing the Instant Save. The Top 8 will perform live next week.
