After a week of great performances, the top 12 was solidified on The Voice tonight. After America’s votes, the top two artists from each of the four teams advanced. Coaches Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Pharrell Williams could then save only one of their artists.
Team Blake was up first, giving a group performance of “I’ll Take You There.” America voted to save young country singer Corey Kent White and the very versatile Meghan Linsey. Shelton used his coach save to put Hannah Kirby through to the top 12. Brooke Adee and Sarah Potenza — who was one of the most talented artists in the competition — were eliminated.
Attention then turned to Team Christina. Aguilera’s artists gave a stellar performance of “Like A Prayer” by Madonna and further proving that she has the best team in the competition right now, which is why it was sad to see two of her artists go. America voted to save vocal powerhouses Kimberly Nichole and India Carney, leaving Sonic, Rob Taylor and Lexi Dávila for Aguilera to choose from. She picked Taylor, who gave one of last night’s best performances and certainly deserved the save.
Team Pharrell was up next. America saved Sawyer Fredericks, the youngest artist in the competition, and fellow young contestant Mia Z. Pharrell saved Koryn Hawthorne, so Caitlin Caporale and Lowell Oakley departed the show.
Performing “Diamonds” by Rihanna, Team Adam took the stage next. Joshua Davis and Deanna Johnson were saved by America, while Levine saved Brian Johnson in one of the most surprising coach decisions of the evening. The very talented Tonya Boyd-Cannon and Nathan Hermida went home.
With the top 12 determined, it’s still looking like Aguilera has the strongest team in play. The results weren’t without their upsets, as strong artists like Potenza, Sonic, and Boyd-Cannon were sent home, but the competition has been incredibly tight this season, so great singers were bound to be eliminated. Who were you saddest to see leave?
