Kelly Clarkson has seen it all. But then again, maybe not. On Monday night’s episode of The Voice, Clarkson got a welcome surprise during Rizzi Myers’ blind audition.
Myers’ spectacular performance of Ariana Grande’s “Breathin'” impressed all the judges, particularly Clarkson, who was first to turn her chair.
Clarkson clearly loved what she saw, and she moved fast to block fellow judge John Legend. “Oh my gosh,” she remarked as she studied the Nashville-based, Kansas City native.
Later, as the panel gave feedback on the performance, Clarkson said, “I looked over at John and I was like, I am ready for a soulful singer…you are so good. You came in here and you showcase almost everything that you’re possibly able to do, but you did it in a way that we’re still wanting more. And on top of that, you seem fun as hell.”
And with that, Myers proved Clarkson right. The contestant told the tale of when they met backstage at a concert, and she had the photo on hand as evidence. Clarkson stepped up on stage to see the snap, and the pair screamed for a moment like BFFs. No prizes for correctly guessing who Myers picked.
