As Billboard recently reported, The Roots have been working on a new album that will feature John Legend and My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James. The album is due later this year. The Roots are also the backing band on upcoming albums by Legend and Booker T. Meanwhile, Questlove will be holding down the musical fort at “Fallon” as a series of major acts including Phish and Green Day stop by May 10-14 to celebrate “Exile On Main Street” by covering Rolling Stones tunes from that classic album. And don’t miss the third annual Roots Picnic down at Philadelphia’s Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing on June 5. The Roots share headlining duties with Vampire Weekend, and the lineup also includes Clipse, Mayer Hawthorne, and a Wu-Tang/Roots jam Quest calls “Wu-Karaoke.”
