Legendary R&B group The O’Jays came by Billboard HQ in New York on Friday (March 29) to perform songs from their upcoming final album, The Last Word, live for the first time as a part of the Billboard Live series.
The trio — consisting of original members Eddie Levert and Walter Williams as well as Eric Grant, who has been with the band since 1995 — began with a run-through of their galvanizing new single “Stand Up (Show Love)” that quickly proved the band has plenty of tricks left for their latest batch of tunes.
Next, the group treated the audience to the debut of a new song written by Bruno Mars and Patrick Monahan called “Enjoy Yourself.” Though the track has been teased since late 2018, their performance on Billboard Live offered the first listen of the heavyweight hitmakers’ collaboration.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members finished with an all-star medley that kicked off with “Back Stabbers” and included career highlights such as “I Love Music” and the Hot 100 chart-topping “Love Train.”
The O’Jays’ final album The Last Word is set to drop on April 19 via S-Curve/BMG.
