Break out the Phantom Planet: A musical version of The O.C. is coming to Los Angeles.
The one-night-only event August 30 is being put on by director Jordan Ross and producer Lindsey Rosin, who also recently brought fans Cruel Intentions: The Musical (a.k.a the event where Reese Witherspoon famously rocked out in the front row alongside co-stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair).
Flashback Friday: ‘The O.C.’ Had All the Best Music
Over on the official Twitter account for the show, they’ve been teasing cast announcements — including The Flash‘s Rick Cosnett as Sandy Cohen and Drew Seeley as Luke — with more details said to be coming shortly.
As all fans of the best teen drama of all time (yeah, I said it) are aware, the show was already pretty musical, with indie-rock acts like Death Cab for Cutie and Rooney featured prominently on the show, leading to several Music From the O.C. mix CDs circa 2004.
I have an answer to ONE big question we’ve been getting — YES. Seth Cohen will sing a Death Cab for Cutie song!

B. “Hide & Seek” playing when Marissa shoots Trey to save Ryan.
C. When “Something Pretty” soundtracks Seth declaring his love for Summer at school.
D. “If You Leave” streaming at the airport when Anna leaves for Pittsburgh.
E. That moment when Ryan slo-mo runs to get to Marissa by midnight on New Year’s Eve. (The tune? “Dice”)
F. All of the above, and then some.
For all those who answered F, see ya at the Bait Shop.
