Swedish electronic duo the Knife will release the long-awaited follow-up to their 2006 breakout album “Silent Shout” next spring. “Shaking The Habitual” will be released April 9, 2013, through Brille/Mute.
Earlier this week, the Knife released a teaser trailer for the album, featuring swing sets, ravers, and some uncomfortable-looking shoes:
According to a press release, “Shaking The Habitual” will be supported by live dates in Europe next year. The brother-sister duo of Karin Dreijer Andersson and Olof Dreijer have not toured extensively since supporting “Silent Shout,” which has told 65,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan and littered year-end lists in 2006.
Since the release of “Silent Shout,” the notoriously press-shy duo has collaborated with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock on a 2010 opera, “Tomorrow, In a Year,” that was loosely based on Charles Darwin’s “On The Origin of Species.” Karin Dreijer Andersson released a solo album under the name Fever Ray in 2009.
“Shaking The Habitual” will be the Knife’s fourth studio album, after launching with a self-titled disc in 2001. Listen to their classic 2003 single “Heartbeats”:
