It seems no corner of the music world was untouched by the recent passing of Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington. Even The Chainsmokers, with their dance-pop effervescence, grew up finding solace in the beautiful sorrow of the frontman’s lyrics. Linkin Park was one of the first major rock bands to prominently include a DJ, so it makes sense The Chainsmokers, a pair of DJ-producers turned band leaders, would find their hybrid theory a well of inspiration.
The LA duo tweeted their admiration of Bennington and Linkin Park in a recent string of responses to fan questions. They also named Dr. Dre as their dream collaboration, confirmed that Memories tour drummer Matt McGuire currently lives with the duo’s Drew Taggart, name dropped SZA as the artist behind their favorite song of the moment, and more.
