It’s been 14 years since R&B singers Brandy and Monica battled over a man in “The Boy is Mine,” a track that topped the Hot 100 for 13 weeks — but the dynamic duo is back.
Monica tweeted pictures of the pair in a Miami studio on Friday, writing, “We have Both Been Blessed Beyond Measure..14years later.. #TURNTHELIGHTSON.”
According to Brandy, the collaboration “turned out great.”
“Wonderful night in the studio!” she tweeted. “I wasn’t 100%, but I gave it my all and it turned out great! Just a little more raspy than normal:)”
It was unclear if the song is titled “Turn the Lights On” or which singer will field the collaboration, though Brandy’s new album is expected in May on RCA/Chameleon Records. As previously reported by Billboard.com, the set will feature contributions from Sean Garrett, Rico Love, Bangladesh, Timbaland, Jim Jonsin and recent breakthrough artist Frank Ocean, who scored an early writing credit on Brandy’s 2008 release, “Human.”
