Thousands of country music fans “Got Their Shine On” Friday at the Orleans Hotel & Casino for the Party With A Cause concert. One of the biggest performances of day one of the ACM Experience, the event promotes Outnumber Hunger, the partnership between Feeding America, General Mills, and the Big Machine Label Group to fight against hunger in the United States.
Big Machine’s Scott Borchetta says he is glad to add his name — and his label to the fight. “The hunger problem we have in America is unacceptable. The more we learn about it, the more upset we get about it.”

Helping to make the day memorable was an afternoon full of performances from many of the acts on the BMLG roster, such as The Band Perry. Lead singer Kimberly Perry said they were honored to be a part of such an event.
“It’s so exciting to be on stage tonight for two reasons. For one, we’re in Vegas. it’s always exciting to sing country songs with our fellow country music lovers out here, and we have the opportunity to put a spotlight on a dark place – hunger.”
The trio performed many of their hits, but also gave attendees a taste of some of their new music off the just-released “Pioneer.” Reid Perry says the new music has sparked excitement on both sides of the stage. “It’s cool to see the new energy it’s brought to the shows – not just for the fans, but for the three of us as well. After playing the same music for two years, you’re ready for a burst of energy, and this has given that to us.”
Another act from the BMLG roster that lent his talents to the cause is ACM Top New Male Vocalist winner Brantley Gilbert. The Georgia native has been itching for his fans to hear some new music, so he obliged.
“We did our first USO tour recently, and when I got home, I did something that was non-industry standard. I leaked the song without asking the label. It’s called ‘One Hell Of An Amen.” The song can be heard on Gilbert’s YouTube channel. Gilbert will have a new single and album out before years’ end.
“Outnumber Hunger – Live” will air as an exclusive AXS.TV concert special on tonight at 9 p.m. EST, featuring performances from Justin Moore, Cassadee Pope, Greg Bates, The Band Perry, and Gilbert. Florida Georgia Line was also a part of the concert and taping as well. The duo’s Brian Kelley says being a part of such a cause is something they feel very compelled to do.
“We have said from the beginning that we wanted to be bigger than the music and have careers and lives that speak louder than the music. We were lucky enough to have it big last year, and with that comes more responsibility and a bigger voice.”
