The Band Perry will punctuate an eventful 2013 by kicking off its We Are Pioneers tour, the country group’s first global headlining trek, on Nov. 8 in Sweden. Backstage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Saturday (Sept. 21), the group of siblings expressed interest in loading their upcoming live show with pyrotechnics — if only their mother would help them out.
“The reason that we don’t know if it’s going to happen is because we’re trying to get our mother to get her pyro license,” explains Kimberly Perry, who joined brothers Neil and Reid for a performance at the iHeartRadio Village on Saturday afternoon. The “If I Die Young” singers apparently lean on their mother for lots of band responsibilities, and asked her to secure the correct amount of fireworks for their major headlining gig. “Our logic was, she’s the only person we trust to blow stuff up onstage while we’re on it,” says Neil Perry.

Along with the upcoming tour, the Band Perry hopes to be in “writing mode” next year to complete the follow-up for their sophomore album “Pioneer,” which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 earlier this year. “I think there will definitely be a chunk of time that we carve out of next year to really buckle down and get the third record done,” Kimberly says.
