Ten of the dozen season two “American Idol” finalists will take part in the group’s upcoming North American tour. The 39-city run will feature Clay Aiken, Kimberly Caldwell, Julia Demato, Joshua Gracin, Charles Grigsby, Kimberly Locke, Carmen Rasmusen, Rickey Smith, Ruben Studdard, and Trenyce. Like last year’s tour featuring season one finalists, each show will feature individual as well as collective performances.
Left out of the list is Vanessa Olivarez, who was voted off after the first finalist episode in March, and Corey Clark, who was disqualified from the competition on April 1 because of an undisclosed prior arrest for assault.
The Pop Tarts-sponsored tour kicks off July 8 in St. Paul, Minn., and will close Aug. 31 in Anaheim, Calif. Tickets for stops in Toronto, Raleigh, N.C., Houston, and Boise, Idaho, go on sale today (May 16) via Ticketmaster. The rest of the shows will go on sale tomorrow and Sunday.
The winner of the second “American Idol” season will be decided after Tuesday night’s competition between Aiken and Studdard. Results will be announced on the following night’s season finale.
